Transformational acting Essay Example For Students
Transformational acting Essay Transformational acting is a another technique our group choose to utilize as it shows the characters current feelings and raw selves in order to transform who they are and their emotional ranges into that of the characters they portray. In doing so, they function, take action and live the reality and lifestyle of these characters, without having to use the past or imagining the future. Amir, as narrator moves in and out time and instigates the time changes and actor transformations. An example of this is in scene two; Amir begins to tell the story of how he and his family came to be in Australia and in doing so creates the shift in time and enterers/ becomes the character he is telling the story about. He starts the scene off by making the audience believe he is about to narrate the story when all sudden he starts grabbing characters, Stephanie becomes Penny Boulton and Brendan becomes James Boulton and the story goes on to take a and intriguing turn. This is an effective technique as it really engages the audience by keeping them intrigued in the play as it draws them into the story and is an interesting way of acting out the story rather then just narrating it. This was an important technique we choose to utilize as it was throughout the play as a means of telling the story. We will write a custom essay on Transformational acting specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now There where also various techniques in A Beautiful Life that we choose not to utilize. The symbol of the rose being one of them. This was mainly due to the fact that we could not adequately explore and develop this idea of freedom through the use of roses given the amount of time that we have.Ã A Beautiful Life follows the Brechtian, theatre of cruelty and contemporary theatre performance conventions in order to challenge assumptions rethink beliefs or reaffirm certainties. The Brechtian idea of retelling a story or events to assist the audiences understanding is used in our performance. The ideas of justice, abuse of power and prejudice are important issues the combined story of the protest and the refugee explore to communicate to an Australian audience as means of provoking social change as Brecht conventions indented it to be. An example of this is the way our performance positions the audience to see the Iranians in a sympthetic way. We show cruel, harsh and unfair imprisonment and its conditions forcing the audience to become discussed with what theyve seen and call for social change. Theatre of cruelty is the attack on the scenses and aims at challenging audiences pre conceived ideas and innocent conceptions to create new awareness so as the audience can actively take this movement and change the cause and reasons for this such extortionary theatre, using a minimalist stage, lighting and minimalist costumes. Contemporary Australian Drama is the means in which a story is developed in new ways to assist audiences interpret the ideas and images presented in the theatre. In A Beautiful Life and our play some of the unique techniques used to convey the issues of modern theatre are used, these being: transformational acting, narrator, and non-English language, to convey modern Australian issues of multiculturalism. Our play uses the techniques, conventions, background and the ideas presented in A Beautiful Life to create a small scale version of the combined histories of the refugee musician and the Iranian Embassy protest. We have conveyed the ideas of modern Australian issues regarding multiculturalism, prejudice, injustice and brutality to through an array dramatic forms and techniques. We have accurately conveyed a reflection on the ways in which our Performance reflects the performance style, dramatic techniques and conventions, conveys ideas and develops a response from the audience, and reflects the historical and social background A Beautiful Life presents.

How to Be a Happy Person Essay Example
How to Be a Happy Person Essay Example How to Be a Happy Person Essay Example How to Be a Happy Person Essay Example Nowadays, modern society is filled with many stereotypes that are created to teach people how to live their lives, what they should do, how they should behave, what is good for them and what can make them happy. However, these ideas do not relate to every single person; they are designed artificially and fob off on their decisions. The society has always dictated what is right and what a person should do if he/ she wants to be successful, rich or happy. People swallow these ideas without realizing that they do not correspond to reality and in real life the things are different. Mass media has the great impact on peopleââ¬â¢s consciousness. Today, the top problem is how to be happy, how to find happiness, and how can one get it and never let it go. People see situations when others have found their happiness in life and have been changed forever. Thus, if you could find your happiness in this life, you will be a winner and you will not be like others. People put all their efforts, trying to identify what is happiness and where it can be found. They search it everywhere and are ready to give anything to receive any useful information about it. They visit seminars that promise to teach how to be happy in this life or they go to trainings that share secret information, concerning happiness. Better Me In fact, many of these so-called teachers are bilkers, who have found a way to earn money on peopleââ¬â¢s desires. Ironically, but teaching others to search a path to happiness, they have found their own one, which is a path to becoming rich. If one will listen to all these advices, he/ she will probably think that he/ she needs to find something in life that will make him happy. However, it is better to listen to yourself, rather than to somebody else, if this happiness must be found or whether it is something inside of people. No doubts, everyone has bad days in their life, sometimes these periods may turn into durable depression, but every thing has its beginning and its end, and if a person has a difficult period in his/ her life then it will pass earlier or later, it cannot last forever. Even bad experiences should be accepted, first of all, as an experience, but not like a negative situation; the only place where happiness really exists is in human mind. Happiness is already inside people and it depends on whether they want be happy or they want to search for it. In other words, everything depends on peopleââ¬â¢s attitude to life; if one smiles to life, the life will smile back to him/ her. Happiness is the reflection of peopleââ¬â¢s actions, thoughts and decisions, if they are negative, no wonder that a person is unhappy. Another issue concerns such virtue as to help other people. Indeed, one may argue that there is nothing wrong with a desire to help those in need. Many people agree that helping others is a good decision and it characterizes a person from his/ her best side. However, sometimes the desire to help may overgrow into compulsive craving to help people because you are the only who can do it and without you he/ she will not survive. In fact, it is not true; no doubt, a person may provide a help to another one; even more, this help may make a difference in his/ her life, but one should remember that people are the only creators of their lives. No one can make a decision instead of others and there are at least two reasons: The first one concerns a human nature; one should accept the fact that no person is able to change the other one, until this person decides to make some changes in his/ her life. If a person really wants to help his/ her friend, the best thing he/ she may do is to give a good advice or provide assistance, if necessary. Every person must live his/ her life in a way he/ she thinks it is best for him/ her. The second issue directly concerns the person who has a strong desire to help others. His/ her desire may overgrow into an obsession to become a savior for an unfortunate person. In this case, the person who wants to help may face bad consequences of his/ her desire. This person begins to live a life of those he/ she wants to help; he/ she emphasizes him/ her so strong that absolutely forget about his/her own life. Unfortunately, it happens very often and such behavior negatively effects both sides of this agreement. According to this fact, one should remember that providing help to others is a good desire, but he/ she should not sacrifice own life to help others. This help must be in a range of personââ¬â¢s opportunities and should not go beyond his/ her norms of life. Assertiveness is what the majority people want and what they are afraid to do To be assertive means to talk about a particular position straight and to be ready to receive approval or contrary disapproval. Many people are afraid to define their position, concerning some issues, and they prefer to keep calm and say nothing. However, is it correct, should a person be silent if he/ she really has something to say? Some believe that they will not be accepted by the audience and thus, there is no sense to talk at all. Others cannot stand criticism and this is the reason why they keep silence. Anyway, people should understand that they will never be accepted as an individual for the thoughts and ideas that were not announced. If a person wants to say something and he/ she believes that his/ her opinion is really important, then there are no reasons why it should not be done. In other words, nobody will remember you for your thoughts, if you want to do something, just do it, if you want say something, say it; there are always people who will judge whatever you do. For me to be a whole person means to be free from any types of stereotypes and preconceived ideas. A person who believes that he/ she lives a happy life should be open to different points of view. He/ she must see the whole picture of the situation and analyze it from different aspects, but not only from those that are comfortable to him/ her. I believe that this information helped me to overview some my positions in life. First of all I want to mention the issue, concerning happiness. Indeed, I have met many people who believed in one idea and did not notice the world around them. These people cannot be called a whole person because they refuse to see the issue of happiness from different points of view. Another interesting issue that captured my mind is providing help to others. I have always thought that help is something absolutely positive and there could not be negative consequences, if it does not harm somebody else. However, I realized that the situation, when a person who wants to help another one scarifies his/ her own life is really wrong. Thus, according to this new perception of principles, I decided to overview my personal beliefs, ideas and make some corrections because the received information gave a new light for these issues. First of all, I want to say that there should be a balance in my feelings and emotions, a person who cannot control his/ her own emotions can be manipulated by others. Thus, to control my emotions means to be independent from somebodyââ¬â¢s influence. I should not make quick conclusions, concerning some issues, until I analyze it from different points of view. Everybody knows that it is better to find a solution of a problem like it does not relate to you personally. Emotions do not give a chance to find a rational solution for a problem; they distract a person and make him/ her blind. The issue of altruism is always praised as a positive one, but enough is as good as a feast. People who try to help everyone, very often forget that they have their life with problems too. To help others is a good thing, but sympathy, as well as other emotions should be controlled because it may bring harm to my personal life and help to make a right decision. Our SamplesThe best way to know how to write good essays is by getting a sample of an essay from competent experts online. We can give you the essay examples you need for future learning. Free Essay Examples are here. These articles have demonstrated me that people are socialized individuals who respond to the demands of the society. Society uses different instruments to manipulate people, for example, it creates fake ideals and beliefs. Individuals accept this information as the true one and they follow to the direction that was pointed by the society. Moreover, these articles gave examples that indicate, why one should care less about what he/ she does and says and pay more attention to personal ideas and beliefs. An interesting fact, people listen to those who truly believe in what he/ she says, thus if one wants to say something, he/she must be absolutely ensured in what he/ she says. I believe that I am a whole person, maybe not fully, but I try to be one. For me to be a whole person means to have a strong life position. Every person should have some principles and norms that form him/ her as an individual. The mix of these principles creates what one may call a behavior and a person is ruled by this behavior. In other words, it can be said that a person is what he/ she thinks and believes. Our thoughts make us the people we are and if we lose at least few of them, it cannot be left without attention by those people who know us pretty good. Thus, the first thesis of being a whole person is to have principles that cannot be easily changed by the influence of somebody else pressure. A person who has certain beliefs and his/ her personal understanding of the world still cannot be called a whole person. If one is afraid of telling what he/ she thinks, it does not matter how many good ideas he/ she may have. Thus, it is important to behave yourself in a manner you believe is right. The biggest mistake that the majority of people make is think ââ¬Å"What other people will say?â⬠No doubts, a whole person listens to other peopleââ¬â¢s opinion, but he/ she will never be ruled by them. In addition, he/ she is ready to provide his/ her thoughts even if nobody agrees. Actually, it does not mean that this person does not respect the opinion of others, contrary a whole person as a rule is very tolerant towards others and he/ she tries to provide his/ her thoughts in a polite manner. The third idea that I would like to identify being happy. One may argue that this has no sense because everybody wants to be happy and it is a natural fact that people try to be happy. However, I put a little different meaning in this issue; many people search for happiness instead of being happy. Happiness is the way of perception of the world. A person should realize that he/ she can be happy right now and all the necessary things he/ she already has. A person may analyze the situation from different perception. Those people who are able to see something positive in everything that happens in their life, will hardly say that they are unhappy, while those people, who view world as something negative and evil, will always be unsatisfied. Life is like a mirror, the image you see there is the reflection of you. Thus, I believe that a positive attitude gives the same positive attitude back. To sum up, I can say that if one wants to understand people, he/ she should start with himself/ herself. If one can understand the nature of his/ her own decisions, then he is ready to analyze the behavior of other people. Additionally, I can say that self-analysis may open a door to the world of human being. However, I believe that human nature is a mystery and it is not always easy to understand ones actions.

Harassed on LinkedInî Take these steps to prevent and stop it now.
Harassed on LinkedInà ® Take these steps to prevent and stop it now. Thereââ¬â¢s no question that social media, including LinkedInà ®, can expose you to unwanted attention, whether it be spam messages or actual threats. Iââ¬â¢ve received some inappropriate emails myself (thankfully nothing threatening or truly stalker-like). But not everyone is so lucky. I have had many people share with me their fear about posting a photo or profile on LinkedInà ® due to the possibility that they might be followed in an unwelcome way. I am grateful to my colleague Rabbi R. Karpov, Ph.D. for providing tips on how to investigate followers before they become a problem. She credits Robin Schlinger for some of this information as well. Here is some of what she suggests: Check the personââ¬â¢s photo. Right click on any profile image and copy the image location. Next, run that photo through Google Images (https://images.google.com/). You can find it by typing google images into your browser. Click the camera icon and paste in the image URL. Now you can find some things out. Look for red flags: Stock photo. That wholesome-looking woman, it turns out, wasnt really an Apple Computer VP! Stolen photo. The photo is of someone living, such a military-man or Miss World Philippines contestant, or of someone deceased (hey, thats the late President of Zaire!) Check out the rest of the general picture: Run the email address you find under the connections Contact Info through Google. Did it come up as a known email address associated ONLY with a scammer/spammer? Run the connections name through Google. What turned up? Run the name AND the email address through Google. Sometimes that is what turns up information that will make you glad you took this extra 5 minutes. Hopefully this due diligence will prevent some unwanted connections. But sometimes there are bigger issues of LinkedInà ® users abusing their connected status to stalk other users. Due to the upswing in complaints regarding this problem, on February 20, 2014, LinkedInà ® implemented a member blocking feature. Blocking a member allows you to completely remove your profile from that connections view, and theirs from yours. In addition, says LinkedInà ®: You wont be able to message each other on LinkedIn. If youre connected, you wont be connected anymore. Well remove any endorsements and recommendations from that member You wont see each other in your Whos Viewed Your Profile Well stop suggesting you to each other in features such as People You May Know and People also Viewed How to block a LinkedInà ® member To block someone, visit their profile and hover over the down arrow to the right of the message button and click Block or report. You will then get a popup window with options to block this person or report them or both. If you choose to report them, you will need to provide a reason for doing so. Note that you do not need to disconnect from your contact first; blocking them automatically disconnects you. Once you have blocked someone, their name will appear on your block list. You can view the list by visiting your Privacy Settings under Manage who youre blocking. From here you can also unblock members, should you choose to do so. For more information on how the blocking feature works, including how to block from within a group environment, visit LinkedInà ®s Help Center article, Member Blocking Overview. Take additional privacy precautions Of course, ideally we would never want to have to block anyone, so take Rabbi Karpovââ¬â¢s advice to heart! In addition, here are a few more things you can do to protect your privacy: Only accept connections from people you know. LinkedInà ® is a great supporter of this philosophy; however, there is a trade-off between maintaining a small number of reputable connections and broadening your network (and thus increasing your leads) by connecting with people outside of your circle. Change your settings under Privacy Settings so that only those who know your email address or are in your imported contacts list can send you invitations (Go to Privacy Settings, Communications tab, and Select who can send you invitations). Go to Privacy Settings, Profile tab, and click on ââ¬Å"Select who can see your connectionsâ⬠where you will have an option to prevent others from seeing see your network. This will prevent your 1st degree connections from seeing exactly how many connections you have; otherwise they will be able to get past the ââ¬Å"500+â⬠and see both your exact number of connections and who those connections are. None of these alternative actions is a perfect solution and you still may encounter unwanted attention on LinkedInà ®. If you do, it is your prerogative to block the offending member. You may also want to report any harassment to the LinkedInà ® Corporation; and if necessary, please seek legal counsel. Have you experienced harassment on LinkedInà ®? How did you handle it? What precautions will you take in the future? Please share below!

SAINT AUGUSTINE'S CONFESSION Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
SAINT AUGUSTINE'S CONFESSION - Essay Example First, Monicaââ¬â¢s outstanding obedience to her husband influenced Augustines conversion. Second, Monica introduced her son to Ambrose, who would later baptize him. Finally, Monica compelled and encouraged Augustine to attend school that shaped his life and would culminate in him becoming a priest. Monica played a significant role in the conversion of Patricius (Augustineââ¬â¢s father) and Augustine. Initially, both Patricius and Augustine were not believing in Christ but finally were saved through the influence of Monica. Monica prayed to God on behalf of her husbandââ¬â¢s soul and Augustine. Augustine recounted that Monica, ââ¬Å"With a pure heart and faith in you she even more lovingly travailed in labor for my eternal salvation.â⬠1 This follows that Monica vowed not to stop at nothing but to see a Catholic Christian Augustine. The mother took time praying and laboring while serving the Lord so as to send grace upon his son and get saved. Augustine wonders how his parents lived harmoniously with each other. Monica was a God fearing individual and served her husband as her lord with care to her children. Her virtuous traits bear witness to the Christian life, which make a strong impression on Augustine. She significantly inspires Augustine to grow as a God fearin g individual ultimately leading to his Christian conversion. My physical mother was distraught. With a pure hear and faith in you she even more lovingly travailed in labor for my eternal salvation. She hastily made arrangements for me to be initiated and washed in the sacraments of salvation, confessing you, Lord Jesus, for remission of sins. But suddenly I recovered. My cleansing was deferred on the assumption that, if I lived, I would be sure to soil myself; and after that solemn washing the quilt would be greater and more dangerous if then defiled myself with sins2. From the block quote above, we further realize how Monica was determined to ensure his son did not die a sinner.

Essay on Virtue Essay Example for Free
Essay on Virtue Essay For most religious people it is one of the main goals in their life to live after the guidelines of virtue and show behavior with high moral standards. Virtue means goodness, morality, integrity, dignityâ⬠¦ Everything that Randle McMurphy is not at the first instance in ââ¬Å"One Flew Over the Cuckooââ¬â¢s Nestâ⬠. His character opposes all classic characteristics of virtue and roughly speaking he fails to survive in the end. Therefore is it important to be virtuous? I believe that although virtue is coming out of fashion in todayââ¬â¢s culture, it is a necessary, daily element in our life. For most people virtue isnââ¬â¢t the ââ¬Å"coolest kid in townâ⬠. If someone announces that theyââ¬â¢re giving up on dating, spending money on nice clothes and to overall work on becoming a more virtuous person, one will be labeled as a ââ¬Å"freakâ⬠; someone maybe too religious that has a screw loose somewhere. Being virtuous can be boring because you have to control and put yourself in the background in a time when most teenagers and adults live their life for the public. One will sit in a nice restaurant with a plate more like art than food in front of them, but instead of enjoying their meal and talking with their friends, people will take a picture to display on instagram or facebook showing other people how good their life is. Being wicked and a little bit crazy is a strangely attractive characteristic nowadays. Along the lines of ââ¬Å"good girls go to heaven. Bad girls go everywhere. â⬠In OFOTCN McMurphy is that kind of crazy, wicked person. Although he fails to fit into society, it is hard to argue that he is not polarizing, fun and strangely likeable. When Murphy is asked why people believe he might be mentally ill, he bluntly says, ââ¬Å"Well, as near as I can figure out, its cause I, uh, fight and fuck too much. â⬠A virtuous person would never say that. But coming from Randle, it is oddly witty and authentic. McMurphy is not the perfect example of virtue; he is the exact opposite, the how-not-to-do-it. Yet you feel yourself rooting for him, wishing that he will succeed in his life. Maybe because you see good in him even though you have to dig past a few layers, or maybe you are inspired by his pure love of life and spontaneity. In Addition his relationship with Chief shows true affection and care. For example when Randle is genuinely interested in Chiefââ¬â¢s story and even asks him to run away with him. He builds a friendship and basis of trust where the Chief even reveals his ability to communicate. The amazing part is the fact that the Chief never spoke a word with anyone and acted dumb the entire time he was on the ward, fooling everyone. McMurphy brings a lot of joy and freshness into the sanatorium, although theyââ¬â¢re primarily enforced with alcohol and women. He is unique and against all norms. If youââ¬â¢ve read The Catcher in The Rye, you know that McMurphy is someone who isnââ¬â¢t ââ¬Å"phonyâ⬠. But all his likeability aside, McMurphy fails to run away from the psychiatric hospital and even loses his life in the end. Therefore it shows us that it isnââ¬â¢t really possible to live in society without norms. Which brings us to the point that humans need virtue as an element in their life in order to survive. We need and want virtue in our life, so that we can keep things in order and live a happy life. There is an invisible book of rules that almost everybody knows of. Not everyone follows it, but itââ¬â¢s usually known in the name of ââ¬Å"common senseâ⬠. For instance people know that it is hurtful to cheat on someone. Loyalty and honesty are elements of virtue and people live by their rule everyday. When you promise someone to do something, you have to do it or will be labeled as irresponsible and untrustworthy. You donââ¬â¢t have to say these things out loud because itââ¬â¢s common sense. Elements of virtue lie so deep in our culture that theyââ¬â¢ve become everyday values and traditions that have formed a common code for society. Beside materialistic or selfish values, we need morals and principles that leave us with something more substantial than money or success. Virtue is something that is expected of everyone, yet not usually voiced. Someone who is against all norms usually doesnââ¬â¢t survive in society. The example is Randle McMurphy, who is a healthy and intelligent man. There is nothing stopping him from living a normal life, but his persona is so impulsive and difficult that it is very hard to find virtue in him. Therefore people are quick to judge him and label him as a danger to society. He gets send to the electroshock treatment because he acted impulsively and smashed a window in order to get Martinezââ¬â¢ cigarettes. Bystanders will describe this act as dangerous and violent and conclude that he is a threat. I think that McMurphy didnââ¬â¢t mean any harm, but failed to think twice about what he was doing. A virtuous person wouldââ¬â¢ve never smashed the window in the first place and therefore never gotten a punishment. We are imprinted with the knowledge that some things are right and others wrong, whereas those judgments are based on the concepts of virtue. But humans arenââ¬â¢t that easy and the way society understand this concept has its flaws. All humans are different in their personas and stories, but no one is better than the other. In OFOTCN everyone in the psychiatric hospital is very different from the other, but they each have their pluses and minuses. The nurses arenââ¬â¢t more virtuous than the patients, which is shown in the irresponsible behavior of Nurse Ratched that ultimately resulted in Bibbetââ¬â¢s death. But for society it might seem that she showed virtuous behavior in forms of honesty. It might seem unfair that those ââ¬Å"Looneysâ⬠are locked up either in the prison or sanatorium because they donââ¬â¢t behave in an acceptable manner. ââ¬Å"What do you think you are, for Chrissake, crazy or somethin? Well youre not! Youre not! Youre no crazier than the average asshole out walkin around on the streets and thats it. â⬠McMurphy is the one to voice out that the people in the hospital are no less valuable than the ââ¬Å"normalâ⬠people. It is ironic that especially Randle, who seems to be dangerous and aggressive, to say something that true and tolerant. We see that the patients have accepted and believe the opinion of the society. So has the hospital, that just strictly follows the daily routine, shocks patients if theyââ¬â¢re not obedient and donââ¬â¢t put visible effort in genuinely helping them. Nurse Ratched says, ââ¬Å"The best thing we can do is go on with our daily routine. â⬠right after Bibbetââ¬â¢s death and McMurphyââ¬â¢s brain surgery. For society it is easy to say that someone is bad according to his or her moral standard and integrity. But not every person is born into a nice environment, a loving family or prosperity. There is much more to a personââ¬â¢s life that forms their character, way of thinking and thus value of virtue. We see that McMurphy is by no means a purely malicious character but a fun-loving guy who loves life. Yet his way of dealing with things put him in trouble and difficulty. It is very important to understand and have virtue in your life, because even though we often neglect open and excessive virtuous behavior, it is an unspoken rule in society to behave to some extent of common virtue. It is somewhat ironically contradicting and there is just simply no scientific answer to being virtuous because there are so many factors that play a role in someoneââ¬â¢s behavior. Everyone is good and bad and the lines between villain and hero are sometimes surprisingly blurred. Humans are complex beings that canââ¬â¢t be simply categorized into wrong and right and many situations seem ambiguous depending on the perspective. That is why virtue is a great ideal but by no means a scale to critic.

money or your life :: essays research papers
A thought popped in my head as I was half way through the readings for this assignment and I wanted to share it with you. This is my last class until I graduate. I was supposed to take this course last semester and I waited because I had a lot going on in my life the past few months. This class is so much more beneficial to me now because I am in the ââ¬Å"real worldâ⬠and have been in it for awhile now. If I was to take this class while I was still going to college I really wouldnââ¬â¢t have gotten as much out of it. I think things happen for a reason and I am glad Iââ¬â¢m taking this class now. With that said; I will get on to the readingsâ⬠¦ In chapter 4 of ââ¬Å"Your Money or Your Lifeâ⬠the whole concept of how much is enough is very interesting to me. The idea is finding fulfillment. In order to find fulfillment you need to find what you are looking for out of life. What are your dreams, what is your purpose in life? I have always had many dreams throughout my life. I also know that there is a purpose for me to be here on earth. Yet I still donââ¬â¢t know what exactly I want to do career wise. I am still looking for that exact purpose for me to be here. I strongly feel that you find this with experience. You need to get out there and experiment, absorb all the knowledge you get from others and your experiences. On page 121 the author discusses purpose. I know that I have a purpose in living. The author says that one way to find your purpose is answering the question, ââ¬Å"Why are you doing what youââ¬â¢re doing?â⬠I may be a little confused to make my decisions but there is always a purpose if I dig deep enough. There is always a meaning for my actions. I have not found that specific career that is a passionate commitment to me yet. I am determined to discover this mission in life. The steps the book gave on finding your mission I found it to be motivating and very helpful. The first one, work with your passion my mother has taught me throughout life. Do what you love to do and you will lead the happiest life possible.

Educational administrators Essay
A stakeholder is an individual or an entity that stand to gain or lose from the success or failure of a system or an organization. From a business perspective the stakeholder analysis theory asserts that an organization should pay greater attention to its stakeholdersââ¬â¢ suggestions and interests in order to incorporate them in the overall decision-making process. Just like it is in the business world, school organizations (institutions) involve several stakeholders such as students, teachers, the parentsââ¬â¢, the government, community, etc. [Gross & Godwin, 2006] Each stakeholder has got a distinct role to play for instance; students are expected to be disciplined, participate in various school activities, and to perform excellently in their academics, the teachers on the other hand are expected to live to the expectations of the professional code of conduct, and to do all what pertains instructions giving, the parents on their part are expected to collaborate with changing demands of the school and to promptly pay fees. The government is expected to offer, technical, professional, and monetary assistance to the schools, while the community is expected pay taxes that are used in the running of the school activities. Just as the stakeholders roles differ, so does their expectations. Students expect an all-inclusive school environment that is rich in quality instructional giving methods and other social amenities such entertainment, sport facilities, etc; the teachers expect to be given reasonable remuneration packages and enough working space to professionally deliver to the students; the parents expect quality education for their children that will result into good results at the end of the school life; the government expects maximum adherence to the school curriculum and the production of happy and useful school products (students) who will fit well in various sectors of the economy; on the other hand the community expects the school to produce happy and useful products who will be called upon to play various tasks in the society. [ESD, 2005-11] Irrespective of whether the school performance is excellent or on a downward trend, all the stakeholders should work together, relate, share, and communicate more often in order to maintain the good performance or impr ove on the nose-diving performance. [Gallagher, Bagin, & Moore, 2005: p. 12] For the smooth running of the school, a proper communication system must be maintained. An administrator will not accomplish any goals in the school without adequate communication. A good communication system should always allow for the receiver to respond to the communicated message. It has been noted that school administrators fail not because they want to but due to their failure to plan. However, a good communication system will not exist without a proper plan. [Holliday (1988)] For, Harris, (2004) ââ¬Å"Good communication does not happen by accident, it is planned, â⬠¦ However, principals with a specific communication plan are able to provide needed support that leads to effective relationship building. â⬠(p. 19). In a school setting communication is paramount in keeping the stakeholders fully informed about well-meaning changes that affect the realization of the school core objectives and also to keep a constant track of any changes in stakeholder expectations. One such well-meaning change in a school is curriculum development. The importance of curriculum changes is seen in the sense that a curriculum is the prime plan of the course of study that provides the learner with proper learning experiences under the guidance of a school. If a curriculum is not meeting the set goals of education then its change is always imperative. Again, it can be changed in order to meet the global innovations and changes of stakeholdersââ¬â¢ expectations. [Walkin (1982)] However, to change a curriculum all the stakeholders must be contacted and their views collected. The current curriculum being used by the high schools in our state was lastly developed ten years ago. Many people have been complaining about it, and calls for its change have been received from several stakeholders in the state. As the chief principal in my school, the task of contacting all the stakeholders in order to get their views concerning the current curriculum efficacy lies wholly in my docket. I will prepare a comprehensive report concerning curriculum matters and a questionnaire; the two documents will be sent to students, teachers, parents, the state education department officials, and some members of the School Board of Governance. The response to these messages and others from other schools will be used to push the state education department to come up with a committee that will embark on the process of reviewing the current curriculum and facilitate changes were necessary. [Gallagher, Bagin, & Moore, 2005] In order to convince the stakeholders that a change of the current curriculum is necessary I will prepare a detailed report that will describe the national goals of education, the objectives of the current curriculum relative to the national education goals, my school performance in state tests for the last five years, and the performance or the last five years of other five schools in different school districts in the state. The report will also include several articles published in some of the leading newspapers and education journals in the state calling outlining the importance of changing the current curriculum. The purpose of this compressive report will be to impart the stakeholders with the necessary knowledge that will enable them to make a decision as to whether a change is necessary or not. In accompaniment of the report will be a five-question questionnaire that will be prompting the stakeholders to sincerely state their opinions on the issue. To compile the report I will need the assistance of several people. The students from various classes, class teachers, the subject heads, head of departments, principals of other schools in different school districts in the state, local education department officers, and several curriculum experts in the state. Two sources of data will be utilized in the study i. e. the primary and the secondary data sources; the primary source will include the data that will be collected direct from the people through observations or verbal interviews while the secondary ones will comprise of stored records, newspapers, and journal articles. In order to collect reliable and valid data I will employ two qualitative methods of data collection. These methods will be verbal and over the phone interviews and scrutinizing of test results presented to me by the respective class teachers, and other written materials. [Taylor & Bogdan, 1984] These two methods will enable me to get a clear picture of subject teachersââ¬â¢ comments, how the students have been performing relative to the national goals of education, curriculum objectives, and the syllabus requirements, and expertsââ¬â¢ views on the impact of the current curriculum in meeting the socio-economic, cultural, and political needs of the students and the society at large. The construction of the five-question questionnaire will be guided by the above reports conclusions. Teachers will collect their reports and the questionnaire from the staffroom while the students will be given theirs via their respective class teachers, for those other stakeholders the post office mailing service will be the obvious option. Stakeholders will be required to take three to six days to study the report fill the questionnaire and mail back the questionnaire. [Gallagher, Bagin, & Moore, 2005] The returned questionnaires will then be analyzed the overall stakeholders verdict recorded. If a clear majority shows that they are for a change ââ¬â which is the most probable verdict, then another report that describes the new stakeholdersââ¬â¢ expectations in my school will be prepared but this time not targeting all the stakeholders but the state education department office whose one of its core mandate is to constantly review the existing curriculum. The report will also be copied to the school heads of all the schools in the state through their respective school district offices, and they will also be carrying out their own change communications, their reports will also be forward to the state education department. [Gallagher, Bagin, & Moore, 2005] In order to provide a feedback to all my schools stakeholders who participated in the change-communication process, I will publish the analyzed results in the local daily newspapers, local educational journals, and even non-print media. Students will also be issued with the same reports to read and to take to their parents, and thus as much people as will be practically possible will definitely be reached through these communication methods. These will help to build a sense of trust on the school among the school stakeholders, as their true feelings will be reflected in the communicated report. Again, this will serve as a positive precedent for future communications of positive changes. [Harris, (2004)] This report will also be made the main agenda in the normal biannual stakeholder meetings, and therefore there will be still a chance to convince the skeptics on the importance of the changes and also develop a time frame, and the other important deliberations that pertains the changes. In these biannual meetings other important changes pertaining the smooth running of the school will also be discussed such as entering into agreements with local colleges and universities in order to facilitate a smooth transition from high school to college education for our school graduates. Examples of Ionic Bonds and Compounds
Examples of Ionic Bonds and Compounds Here are examples of ionic bonds and ionic compounds: NaBr:Ã sodium bromideKBr: potassium bromideNaCl: sodium chlorideNaF: sodium fluorideKI: potassium iodideKCl: potassium chlorideCaCl2:Ã calcium chlorideK2O: potassium oxideMgO: magnesium oxide Note that ionic compounds are named with the cation or positively-charged atom written before the anion or negatively-charged atom. In other words, the element symbol for the metal is written before the symbol for the nonmetal. Recognizing Compounds With Ionic Bonds You can recognize ionic compounds because they consist of a metal bonded to a nonmetal. Ionic bonds form between two atoms that have different electronegativity values. Because the ability to attract electrons is so different between the atoms, its like one atom donates its electron to the other atom in the chemical bond. More Bonding Examples In addition to ionic bond examples, it may be helpful to know examples of compounds that contain covalent bonds and also compounds that contain both ionic and covalent chemical bonds.

The History of Spacesuits
The History of Spacesuits The pressure suit for Project Mercury was designed and first developed during 1959 as a compromise between the requirements for flexibility and adaptability. Learning to live and move within aluminum-coated nylon and rubber garments, pressurized at five pounds per square inch, was like trying to adapt to life within a pneumatic tire. Led by Walter M. Schirra, Jr., the astronauts trained hard to wear the new spacesuits. Ever since 1947, the Air Force and the Navy, by mutual agreement, had specialized in developing partial-pressure and full-pressure flying suits for jet pilots, respectively, but a decade later, neither type was quite satisfactory for the newest definition of extreme altitude protection (space). Such suits required extensive modifications, particularly in their air circulation systems, to meet the needs of the Mercury space pilots. More than 40 experts attended the first spacesuit conference on January 29, 1959. Three primary competitors - the David Clark Company of Worcester, Massachusetts (a prime supplier for Air Force pressure suits), the International Latex Corporation of Dover, Delaware (a bidder on a number of government contracts involving rubberized material), and the B. F. Goodrich Company of Akron, Ohio (suppliers of most of the pressure suits used by the Navy) - competed to provide by the first of June their best spacesuit designs for a series of evaluation tests. Goodrich was finally awarded the prime contract for the Mercury space suit on July 22, 1959. Russell M. Colley, along with Carl F. Effler, D. Ewing, and other Goodrich employees, modified the famous Navy Mark IV pressure suit for NASAs needs in space orbital flight. The design was based on the jet flight suits, with added layers of aluminized Mylar over the neoprene rubber. Pressure suits also were designed individually according to use - some for training, others for evaluation and development. Thirteen operational research suits first were ordered to fit astronauts Schirra and Glenn, their flight surgeon Douglas, the twins Gilbert and Warren J. North, at McDonnell and NASA Headquarters, respectively, and other astronauts and engineers to be specified later. A second order of eight suits represented the final configuration and provided adequate protection for all flight conditions in the Mercury program. The Mercury Project spacesuits were not designed for space walking. Spacewalking suits were first designed for Projects Gemini and Apollo. History of Wardrobes for Space The Mercury spacesuit was a modified version of a U.S. Navy high altitude jet aircraft pressure suit. It consisted of an inner layer of Neoprene-coated nylon fabric and a restraint outer layer of aluminized nylon. Joint mobility at the elbow and knees was provided by simple fabric break lines sewn into the suit; but even with these break lines, it was difficult for a pilot to bend his arms or legs against the force of a pressurized suit. As an elbow or knee joint was bent, the suit joints folded in on themselves reducing suit internal volume and increasing pressure. The Mercury suit was worn soft or unpressurized and served only as a backup for possible spacecraft cabin pressure lossan event that never happened. Limited pressurized mobility would have been a minor inconvenience in the small Mercury spacecraft cabin. Spacesuit designers followed the U.S. Air Force approach toward greater suit mobility when they began to develop the spacesuit for the two-man Gemini spacecraft. Instead of the fabric-type joints used in the Mercury suit, the Gemini spacesuit had a combination of a pressure bladder and a link-net restraint layer that made the whole suit flexible when pressurized. The gas-tight, man-shaped pressure bladder was made of Neoprene-coated nylon and covered by load bearing link-net woven from Dacron and Teflon cords. The net layer, being slightly smaller than the pressure bladder, reduced the stiffness of the suit when pressurized and served as a sort of structural shell, much like a tire contained the pressure load of the inner tube in the era before tubeless tires. Improved arm and shoulder mobility resulted from the multi-layer design of the Gemini suit. Walking on the Moons surface a quarter million miles away from Earth presented a new set of problems to spacesuit designers. Not only did the Moon explorers spacesuits have to offer protection from jagged rocks and the searing heat of the lunar day, but the suits also had to be flexible enough to permit stooping and bending as Apollo crewmen gathered samples from the Moon, set up scientific data stations at each landing site, and used the lunar rover vehicle, an electric-powered dune buggy, for transportation over the surface of the Moon. The additional hazard of micrometeoroids that constantly pelt the lunar surface from deep space was met with an outer protective layer on the Apollo spacesuit. A backpack portable life support system provided oxygen for breathing, suit pressurization, and ventilation for moonwalks lasting up to 7 hours. Apollo spacesuit mobility was improved over earlier suits by use of bellows-like molded rubber joints at the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Modifications to the suit waist for Apollo 15 through 1 7 missions added flexibility making it easier for crewmen to sit on the lunar rover vehicle. From the skin out, the Apollo A7LB spacesuit began with an astronaut-worn liquid-cooling garment, similar to a pair of long johns with a network of spaghetti-like tubing sewn onto the fabric. Cool water, circulating through the tubing, transferred metabolic heat from the Moon explorers body to the backpack and thence to space. Next came a comfort and donning improvement layer of lightweight nylon, followed by a gas-tight pressure bladder of Neoprene-coated nylon or bellows-like molded joints components, a nylon restraint layer to prevent the bladder from ballooning, a lightweight thermal super insulation of alternating layers of thin Kapton and glass-fiber cloth, several layers of Mylar and spacer material, and finally, protective outer layers of Teflon-coated glass-fiber Beta cloth. Apollo space helmets were formed from high strength polycarbonate and were attached to the spacesuit by a pressure-sealing neck ring. Unlike Mercury and Gemini helmets, which were closely fitted and moved with the crewmans head, the Apollo helmet was fixed and the head was free to move within. While walking on the Moon, Apollo crewmen wore an outer visor assembly over the polycarbonate helmet to shield against eye damaging ultraviolet radiation, and to maintain head and face thermal comfort. Completing the Moon explorers ensembles were lunar gloves and boots, both designed for the rigors of exploring, and the gloves for adjusting sensitive instruments. The lunar surface gloves consisted of integral structural restraint and pressure bladders, molded from casts of the crewmens hands, and covered by multi-layered super insulation for thermal and abrasion protection. Thumb and fingertips were molded of silicone rubber to permit a degree of sensitivity and feel. Pressure-sealing disconnects, similar to the helmet-to-suit connection, attached the gloves to the spacesuit arms. The lunar boot was actually an overshoe that the Apollo lunar explorer slipped on over the integral pressure boot of the spacesuit. The outer layer of the lunar boot was made from metal-woven fabric, except for the ribbed silicone rubber sole; the tongue area was made from Teflon-coated glass-fiber cloth. The boot inner layers were made from Teflon-coated glass-fiber cloth followed by 25 alternating layers of Kapton film and glass-fiber cloth to form an efficient, lightweight thermal insulation. Nine Skylab crewmen manned the Nations first space station for a total of 171 days during 1973 and 1974. They wore simplified versions of the Apollo spacesuit while doing the historic repair of the Skylab and changing film canisters in the solar observatory cameras. Jammed solar panels and the loss of a micrometeoroid shield during the launch of the Skylab orbital workshop necessitated several space walks for freeing the solar panels and for erecting a substitute shield. The spacesuit changes from Apollo to Skylab included a less expensive to manufacture and lightweight thermal micrometeoroid over garment, elimination of the lunar boots, and a simplified and less expensive extravehicular visor assembly over the helmet. The liquid cooling garment was retained from Apollo, but umbilicals and astronaut life support assembly (ALSA) replaced backpacks for life support during space walks. Apollo-type spacesuits were used again in July 1975 when American astronauts and Soviet cosmonauts rendezvoused and docked in Earth orbit in the joint Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) flight. Because no space walks were planned, U.S. crewmen were equipped with modified A7LB intra-vehicular Apollo spacesuits fitted with a simple cover layer replacing the thermal micrometeoroid layer. Descartes and hinduism Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words
Descartes and hinduism - Essay Example Descartes illustrates the understanding that one thesis is core to the entire tradition that is everything behaved for the sake of certain goal. Descartes mechanistic view of the universe shows that events result from prior events as indicated in scientific theories of past events that are capable predicting future events. Moreover, he manages to show that there is dualism in interactions because mental states like beliefs and desires interact with physical states (Wall 215). In Hinduism, Self does not denote the personal self or rather the soul, which embodies and reincarnates but rather the spirit referred to as Atman. According to Wall (30) ââ¬Å"Atman, the spirit of vision is never born and never diesâ⬠¦ never-born and eternalâ⬠¦. He does not die when the body diesâ⬠. Therefore, Atman is never a personal possession for anyone because it remains the one universal Self for all. Therefore, Atman is one often referred to as Brahman and entails the one endless consciousn ess in everything. Hindu scriptures continually show that Atman is Brahman and that a personââ¬â¢s Spirit is the Supreme Spirit; as well, the Self is the Supreme self. Atman illustrates that the manifested universe and everything material is an ultimate illusion when viewed from the high perspective and that Self remains a reality. Western: Descartes Descartes believes that he has to find some motive for doubting his prevailing views in order to search for strong basics for his understanding. Everything the meditator accepts as true he came to learn them from or through his senses and acknowledges that senses can deceive although with respect to small objects small or those far away because the sensory knowledge is quite sturdy. Meditation in Descartes is considered as setting the foundation where doubt is used as an influential tool and a foundation of modern skepticism. Reading the first meditation presents skeptical doubts as subject of study on their own and the idea remains that the uncertainties are not probable but a likelihood that is hard to rule out (Wall 215). Skepticism cuts through the core of the western approach and tries to offer certain groundwork of understanding and comprehending the world. On further consideration, the mediator is able to realize that even simple things can be doubted and finds it hard to keep habitual opinions and assumptions of the head. However, by doubting everything, Descartes believed he would at least be certain not to be deceived to untruth by demon (Wall 217). Considering the omnipotent God has the ability of making the conception of mathematics false. Descartes realizes that he is convinced that when dreaming he senses real objects and although present sensations may be images, he manages to indicate that even dream images result from waking experience similar to painting (Wall 215). Even when painters create imaginary creatures, the composite parts are drawn from real things and in case painters create an enti rely new thing, at least the colour within the painting is attached to real experience. Therefore, Descartes observes that even though it is possible for him to doubt combined things; he hardly doubts simple and common components from which compounds were constructed. Descartes also points out individuals can doubt studies based on composite things such as medicine, physics or even astronomy; however, Descartes
